Be a Positive Impact

Volunteer Opportunities

Help us to make a positive and long-lasting impact in our community. Explore our volunteer options below to find the perfect fit for your skills and interests. Each role is essential in making a positive impact in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness, we would love to hear from you.

Make Ready Team

Volunteers commit to a recurring once-per-month schedule on the same make-ready team. They prepare sandwiches and other meal items and assist as needed with loading trucks with food, clothing and other toiletries that will be distributed. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Truck Run Team

Volunteers commit to recurring once-per-month involvement on the same truck team. Routes are pre-determined by the truck team captain, and volunteers assist with the distribution of food and other items at each of the stops during their shift. The goal of each truck run is to connect human to human, heart to heart with our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness. An average truck run generally lasts around 2 hours depending on the itinerary. Each MLF food truck holds six people including the driver, and any volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Sweets & Treats

Baking Desserts

Volunteers make 2 dozen BAGS of cookies or brownies to put out on the trucks as desserts. Once cooked, they are bagged into individual hearty servings (approx. 3 average size cookies or one 3″x3″ brownie). We put 65 desserts out per truck run. ALL ITEMS should be home-baked and not mass produced items like Oreos, Chips Ahoy or Girl Scout cookies. Items must be packaged in a Ziploc baggie. No Saran-wrapped items.  Deliveries for baked goods are Sunday thru Wednesday between 8:00am and 8:00pm. No deliveries Thursday, Friday or Saturdays.

Help is currently needed for the weeks of the 1st Sunday and 5th Sunday of each month.
